In the year 2015, entities called the "Angels" appear in TOKYO-3. Mankind's only hope for survival is EVANGELION, the multi-purpose humanoid fighting machine developed and constructed by Nerv, a United Nations special agency. Summoned by his father, the supreme commander of Nerv, 14-year-old Ikari Shinji climbs aboard EVANGELION-- and finds himself thrown willy-nilly into a maelstrom of battle. It is the year 2015. In TOKYO-3, Kanagawa prefecture, the "Angels" pose a threat to mankind's future. In order to annihilate them, the robot EVANGELION, a multi-purpose humanoid fighting machine, is about to strike, carrying inside itself a 14-year-old boy who tells himself over and over that he musn't run away.
